Simmering

Still waiting. Not patiently.

Yesterday I busied myself with baking, starting with blueberry muffins. By 9:00am, I arrived at Mom and Dad's, warm breakfast in hand. Then I trudged through the falling snow to the grocery store to gather 6 bags full of vegetables.

For the next three hours, I simmered and sauteed and roasted vegetables. I made dough for pizza crust and let it rise. Then I assembled a dozen individual pizzas with toppings like oven roasted eggplant, tomatoes and red peppers, caramelized onions, garlic infused spinach, artichoke hearts and mushrooms.

Later, I whipped up a double batch of corn waffles and a tasty black bean salsa. All of it went into the freezer for quick meals on busy days--some for Mom and some for me.

I'm still simmering, but at least the freezer's full.

Way to channel all that waiting energy! And BTW, corn waffles with tasty black bean salsa sounds TDF!

I'm reminded of some words you once quoted from John Lennon, something about "life is what happens while we're making other plans."

Nice little slice of life here.

Hark, I say! Alack and alas! The snow is up to your armpits and the freezer is full. What an industrious persona. What ingenuity and fine motor skills. Life is good when we're making corn waffles and trudging through the snow. I am planning on making cinnamon rolls today. They probably won't make it to the freezer. I guess I could use the excuse that there is no room. That would not be the truth though.

Preparing for a visit to my see my kids, grandkids and my husband's Mom next week. We try to make the twelve hour trip at tax time every year so my husband can help his Mom with her taxes. Before our daughter moved back two years ago, my husband would usually fly there by himself. Now we drive together so we can bring lots of crap for the grandkids! You know, the stuff that's too big or heavy to mail. Should be lots of fun.

There, I distracted you from your waiting for 30 seconds or so!

You'll be glad you have all that food prepared when the wait is over and you're wondering how you'll find the time to do everything this new adventure demands.

There you go, J. Being productive and creative! But I ask you, where was the rest in all of that??

About that project....did you give any thought to transferring it into another medium? TV show becomes radio show becomes book becomes website becomes a screenplay....see? It's magic. The ways to reinvent oneself are endless....true alchemy...just like the meals you made.

You always have everything you need...

You're welcome in my kitchen anytime you need to work out some impatience.

Just sayin...
