Alive and Well

Several of you lovely and loving people have e-mailed to ask if everything's okay.

Yep.

Just semi-crazed trying to finish a book by deadline next week. The title is The Complete Guide to Luxurious Living, but let me tell you, my living has not been luxurious lately. No, that's not right. Much of my life has been luxurious--the family gatherings, Easter dinner, my son's arrival and so on. It's all been great.

All except writing this book. Most of the trouble is me, some of it's not. The bottom line is that I want to write. I want to write all day, every day. But I want to write stories and memoir. Working on this book feels like being mired in nasal mucus. I know I need a ginormous shift in attitude, but so far haven't mustered it.

I'll try to wrestle a few minutes to write something real tomorrow. Meantime, thanks for your concern.

love.

I'm relieved! I've been worried, and hoping you were just busy with Easter!

BTW - I think the problem is what you consider "luxurious" may not match what the publisher has in mind?

I totally hear you...I'm just so impressed that your writing books - any book, that I think it's all great. And also I'm fascinated with your relationship to 'home'...so grounded.

I think Carrie makes a great point--perhaps the difference between your personal appreciation of true richness and the "luxuries" you may be writing about is making this project particularly odious?

Good luck with it all, and we'll be here when you're ready!

Glad to hear you're doing fine. Can't wait for more installments of your story, but I understand the need (and dread) to get other things done. Now, hurry up!

Oh, so nice to find you here tonight. Looking forward to your next story.

Mired in nasal mucous! Now there's a lovely picture. I know the feeling exactly - that's a scary thought. :)

Love, Love, Love!!!

I was wondering too. And I do think it's awfully cool that you are busy writing a book, even if it's not the one you want. YET. It will be time, soon...

Hang in there. Talk to you soon!!

Love.

Oh, the difference between work and passion. Mired in responsibilities when I really want to create! Hurry, get it out of the way. Like my friend Rick just said to me, "don't get it right, get it written!"

Here's a kleenex for some of that nasal mucus.

In the meantime, while I know that work is work, but perhaps one of your other "characters" could step in and write the Lux Living Guide. Sheila, where are you? She'd really have fun with it.

I think I need "The Complete Guide to Luxurious Living," for Dummies edition. Can you write that one just for me????

so with you here ... only i don't have to produce whole books, just short articles ... after a lifetime of writing only when(and because) there was a paycheck attached. now i can barely force myself to do the stuff that pays the bills ... (for example, here I am on deadline reading and commenting on blogs)..i'd so much rather write to entertain myself.

and, i'll take one of those special suzy editions of luxurious living ... for dummies.

love.
